Home at Last!

We moved into our new house on Friday!!! I'll spare you the details of the drama with the movers, but we are in our new place and as unpacked as can be expected. Our new house is going to work really well for us. All of things will fit in our new place - downsizing in Pittsburgh really paid off. The girls bedrooms are much smaller, but we gain a big basement, which will serve well as Mouse's cave for sports watching and poker with the guys in our neighborhood. We have wonderful neighbors, including two teenage girls, who watched Princess and Spiderbaby on the evening we moved in. I think we'll be friends for life with this family, transplants from Ohio.

Most of life is has been consumed with the move, getting internet, tv and phone connected, which should be tomorrow. I'm looking forward to continuing the recreational adventure out here once we are settled enough, which starts tomorrow. The girls and I are going to a 46th birthday party for a house named Stubbs who lives at the Academy Stables. I plan to register Princess for soccer at the Y, so we can meet other families with young kids in the area. Add on gymnastics class at the Academy, story hours at the library, playtime at the Y while mommy works out and life is back to normal for the girls. They are back to sleeping at their normal times and doing their little morning and bed time routines. I'm glad the month long vacation didn't mess them up too much.

I know after the boxes are unpacked, comes the part - what do I do and the process of making friends out here. I feel I'm off to a decent start, as I met several other spouses on base and have my gameplan of kids activities. With a GPS, I can get around anywhere. Note to my Just Moved sisters in Pittsburgh - I highly recommend that newcomers buy one of these. Thay are @$150 for a good one. I felt so trapped in the burg til I knew my way around the winding street with no names.

I look forward to being able to work out again. I've had some issues with the high altitude here, but once my body adjusts, watch out. This is the headquarters for the Olympic Training Center.

Mouse started work on Monday and it sounds like this is going to be a great job for him. Co-workers are nice and best of all - no blackberry and no calls at 3:00am.
